The challenge was we couldn't use music cues, pictures or footage of the artists. So, we came up with the idea of filming one instrument or device, for each artist, that played a big part in their careers. From building the beat up wood Telecaster guitar that the Boss uses to U2's unique drum kit setup. After thinking it through, we decided to change the execution plan and build each of them as photo-real 3D instruments to gain the control we needed to give it the creative and unique macro moves we wanted to execute, while still keeping the film look and feel to it.
